I’m interviewing Drusilla Modjeska about her brilliant book A WOMAN’S EYE, HER ART.
We’ll be talking about extraordinary women artists of the 2oth century, how they lived and worked, and how they disappeared from history, and were found again.
May 21, 3pm
THINKABLE are taking me on a tour called ‘TELLING UNTOLD STORIES’. I’ll be in conversation about creativity, the writing life, and the true stories behind STASILAND, ALL THAT I AM, and WIFEDOM. I’ll also be talking about what it’s like to be sued by the Stasi, what I found in the coroner’s file on Dora Fabian’s mysterious death in London in 1935, and why the Orwell Society don’t like WIFEDOM.
This is the blurb (which I hope to live up to):
“Anna Funder, one of the world’s most celebrated literary minds and the author behind Stasiland, All That I Am, and Wifedom, takes the stage to explore the question that has defined her career: what does it take to bring back stories left out of history?
In this unscripted live event, Funder goes beyond the page to speak candidly about the research, primary sources, and arguments behind three landmark books. A rare live appearance from one of Australia’s most important writers: this is not an evening to be missed.”
